DatabaseWe are going online with the database We are finally ready to go live at the end of July 2008, and you can subscribe for business use. If you are interested in helicopters as a hobby, the HTDI team and I would be very interested in welcoming you to the team. All we need are your photos of helicopters, which I will add to the database under your name, of course. The more photos I can use, the more you will be able to see in the helicopter database. Since 1989, I have been working with friends all over the world to put together an online database containing all the helicopter data that interests us, which can be accessed at any time. To date, we have archived over 100.000 helicopters, including some with incomplete data sets, of course. But we are doing everything we can and trying our best to make the helicopter database as complete as possible from 1946 to the present day. This database does not include self-built kits or other experimental helicopters, at least not in detail. There may be one or two in it. This helicopter database is intended to be the largest online database for helicopters. Let us see if we can achieve this. We have compiled everything worth knowing about most helicopters, so that there is almost a CV for every helicopter ever built, provided that this information has been made public and brought to my attention, e.g. model change from AS350B1 to AS350B2, but also accident reports and other information that is only available in English and was written by me or one of the HTDI team. It is also possible to search by registrations, owners or other activities of a particular helicopter company, such as firefighting or agricultural flights. You can also display these as a list and sort them by S/N, registration or company name as desired. Take a look at some of the type sheets that we have made freely available for you to view. Of course, most of the helicopters in the database are not documented in such detail, but we work on updates every day, improving old entries and adding new ones. The main data should always be there. This includes the serial number, registration, type, owner and year of manufacture, with further information where available. For some helicopters, unfortunately, we only have the registration, country and type in countries such as Mexico. However, by touring and examining some of the helicopters, we have been able to add missing data. I would be very grateful for any support from helicopter enthusiasts or employees of helicopter companies of any kind. I will respond to every email as quickly as possible. Information regarding sponsored helicopter photos: each image should be no smaller than 300KB and can be up to 2MB in size. The copyright remains with the photographers, of course, and the images can be viewed online in sizes ranging from approximately 80KB to 200KB, but they will still be very small. Photo requests will be forwarded directly to the photographer and will not be blocked or scanned, as is the case with other helicopter websites.
